- Classicut The GBC CL310 is a traditional guillotine style paper cutter that is designed for home office small office or employment.
- It has a 15 inch cutting blade for cutting material and already has 12-inch wide cutting table to help to easily manage their documents.
- It is designed for trimming everything from tissue paper to Foamboard, matboard to cardboard.
Features / Strength:
- The CL310 has a nice 15 "long cutting blade that is ideal for cutting paper Lager. It is ideal for Album cuts, since they can easily handle the 12 "x 12" scrapbook and documents is also very accurate. It is a popular choice for artisans, albums cuts and small organizations.
- The CL310 has several important safety features that are essential for a guillotine cut style paper. It has a latch to keep the blade locked in the down position when not in use. It also has a tension spring mechanism that prevents the blade from falling when arises in the vertical position. Finally, it has a purple finger guard metal to help you avoid accidentally slide your fingers under of the blade during the cutting process.
- The 310 has convenient Classicut measurements on the cutting table to help you align your documents. The measurements are set about 3 inches below the top of the cutter to help keep your cuts more precise and also has useful lines in the cutting table to help align your documents. Measurements in the CL 310 are in metric and imperial units so that you can cut based in centimeters or inches depending on your preference.
- The leaf on the CL310 may be sharpened and replaced. This means that if you find that the blade is dull you can simply take it to a local sharpening company and they can renew it for you. Having sharpened the blade of a couple of times or if notched or chipped will be replaced. Replacement Blades are available and cost considerably less than buying a new paper cutter.
Weaknesses / Limitations:
- The CL310 includes several important security features that are necessary for a guillotine cutter. However, there are a couple of security problems found with this machine. In particular, toe protection is placed about an inch and a half away from the cutting blade. This means it is possible to insert the fingers of the face of the blade of the guillotine and even do substantial damage. If you are careful not to be a huge concern. However, it is something to consider.
- The CL310 has no paper clip or buffer to help you align the paper. This means you need to keep your paper in place during cutting and you have to visually align the paper every time you go to cut a new battery. This makes any kind of reduction of volume or precision cutting of very tedious work. Some larger guillotine cutters have these characteristics and could be more appropriate for organizations that do a lot of cutting.
- In general, the construction of the CL310 is good. However, the court is based made of plywood and quality of the leaf is not nearly what you would find in a comparable trimmer from the cutting line of maple Ingenta. The maple trimmers Ingenta has solid maple cutting bases, are heavier and use higher quality leaf and metal components.
Recommendation:
- This cutter is ideal for scrapbooking, creating craft projects and for use with other applications of light volume. In fact, my wife has one and uses to create their scrapbooks.
- This is not ideal for high volume cutting and avoids some of the security concerns in an office environment in which liability may be cause for concern. Furthermore, not construction is as durable and is not intended to support volume applications or for use in the environment school.
