Let me guess. You are planning a family reunion, and one of his relatives has suggested the conclusion of an auction to raise money for the expenses incurred.
What a great idea!
Like many other families, my family began to hold a auction to cover the costs of producing the event.
The money raised from the auction will be used in the months prior to the meeting of expenses as rental of facilities buy and utensils, coffee and related supplies. My cousin bought the meat (which is reimbursed) and gently smoked to a merger-in-your-mouth tender on his farm. We also buy fun prizes award for 'oldest assistant "or" went further. " Winners also receive several other games small gifts, such as travel, lotions and disinfectants size.
For our first auction in 2005 sold 23 items and raised $ 610. Everyone was thrilled! Because the meeting will generally cost only ~ $ 200 to organize, an account opened in the credit union to maintain extra money. Refunds are made from that account. Because the first event was so successful and covered our costs, because we put less emphasis on bringing everyone of an element.
We have the word about our first auction by sending a mass email to the family. Everyone is asked to bring something to be sold in our inaugural auction of family reunification. Because the concept is new, many people had doubts about what would be an appropriate topic to bring. We gave examples of the stories we heard were sold at an auction of our family friends.
When visitors come to our meeting, we put Article donated / s at a separate table with a sign that states "Items Auction. People walk by the table to navigate, and after lunch you begin sale. If anyone in your family is an auction house, I encourage you to find the most outgoing member of their offspring and ask to serve in the role. (If you have a big meeting, it worthwhile to hire a professional auctioneer will probably benefit a small percentage of the gross receipts or charge a modest flat fee.)
Not the number of items, write descriptions, or use the numbers to tender. The clerking is managed by one of my cousins, and all the world pays the employee in cash or check after the event. This is a low-tech, low-effort of the auction, however, still have the money.
Items sold are usually handmade by the donor or have some personal meaning to the family. For example:
– Canned Tomatoes
– A dozen kolaches
– Crocheted Articles
– A gift basket filled with different items made in Kansas (wine, sandwiches)
– Wahoo board game with marbles and dice
– Casa de Aves
– A variety of garden vegetables that had been freshly elected
– Reprinted photos of Grandma and Grandpa
– A book of your memories of grandma's sayings, recipes and other cuts, including some in Czech
– A basket of cookies
– A collection of old postcards that my grandmother and grandfather had held
– Painted Ornament Christmas
In short, the auction of the family has served its purpose and become a tradition. I predict the same will be true for your event!
