For many years we have had a green Christmas. Rarely have we awakened to a city covered in white. I'm pretty sure this year is no different in the department time. On the other hand, going green this season and each year thereafter must be viewed more seriously.
Every year around the holidays is the excess filling garbage dumps. It is essential to our environment to reduce litter and each person must do its part in reducing, reusing and recycling.
Here's how you can help and do their part in being green this holiday season and beyond.
1. Recycled paper. If you have to buy greeting cards, wrapping paper, gift bags and other paper products, buy paper from recycled paper. Reuse greeting cards age as gift tags, make them into confetti or used to decorate handmade cards and other crafts. Do something creative, such as daily, magazines, paper bag bubble wrap or wrapping.
2. Use containers. You can use containers with or without lids. Jugs, cups, tins, baskets, Tupperware and all items are great for wrapping gifts in Line the container with fabric instead of tissue. Another option is wrapped in a green canvas bag and decorate it with ribbons. All these elements are reusable.
3. Dar green, go green. Think green when it comes to giving gifts. Give tickets to a play, ballet or symphony. Make homemade gifts like baked goods, scrapbooks, picture frames, etc. If you are choosing to work for purchase a gift, go with natural products like wood, clay and bamboo. Buying chemicals, toxic-free natural and organic products.
4. Table of compost. Throw your kitchen waste in a compost box. Remains of plants, grass clippings, leaves, crushed eggshells, tea bags, coffee and paper of all makes for a rich soil that can be used in your garden of flowers and vegetables. Do not place cooked or raw meat products, as these attract the animals.
5. The decoration of trees. Decorate your tree with popcorn strings, paper chains, berries, acorns, pine cones pine and candy canes. Make ornaments with tin foil, Popsicle sticks or ginger bread and use cookie cutters different ways. Using different materials, such as satin, lace or silk, ribbons and bows.
6. Leave the car at home. Take a walk with the kids, a breath of fresh air and something exercise. Reduce stress and clears your mind.
