I do not know about you but I am a girl with the old. I like being able to touch my scrapbook pages in printed form. Watch them on your PC screen does not do it for me. Sorry, until it is printed not only are real.
But I do not want to go to the trouble and expense of taking my design files 12 × 12 inches to a printer professional to get it done. Hey, this is the new millennium. I want instant gratification.
However, as is the case with most of you I hope they only have a size of A4 or Letter width regular inkjet printer. But you can still get your scrapbook designs stationery for computer home. Here's how:
Step 1: When you have completed the design, change the size of 8 × 8 inches (in PSE5, Image> Resize> Image size and change the height and width of fields).
Step 2: Print on your regular printer. I recommend using a good quality photographic card either a satin gloss finish and set your printer as the highest quality settings available. And the extra tip in the choice of photo paper for printing, choose a good weight of thick paper – say 230 grams – and if possible select the brand of paper to match the brand of your printer. Each manufacturer of inks seem work best with their own brand of paper.
Step 3: Do not save small unless you want to save the file in 8 × 8. I just resize, print and then use the Undo button to return to my size 12 × 12.
Step 4: You can change the design with white borders around it or, like me, can trim the white edges and has no digital design … really!
Now, here are some things you want to do with the print out:
* Put in disc of 8 × 8 (make sure it is in a protective, or printing will rub and go. And let dry completely for 24 hours before putting on the protective case or plastic "stick" to the press.)
* Mount in a 12 × 12 piece of cardboard and store pages with the other hand scrapped (if they are bi-scraptual)
* Mount on a canvas or in a frame and hang on the wall (makes a lovely gift)
* Or, my personal favorite, combining the two scrapbooking worlds by adding some "real" embellishments like buckles, silk flowers or ribbons to it to give a level additional dimension.
I find that reducing the size of 12 × 12 8 × 8 has very little impact on the quality distribution (especially if the scrap metal in a minimum of 300 dpi). It's probably a good idea to use a crisp clear font style if you include a lot of daily or at least wear a size reasonable source (but you have to do anyway, if you want to read clearly on the screen).
And now your virtual creation is "real."
